We Eat

Kitchen island seating – Busy schedules often lead to casual dining and the kitchen island.  Since this space is frequently used the seating should be both practical and aesthetically pleasing.  The 30 inch barstool height accommodates a 42 inch counter.  The 26 inch counter stool accommodates a 36 inch high counter – normal counter height.  Be sure that the seat is deep enough for comfort.  Swivel stools are great but when they have backs, they can cause damage to the edge of the counter if turned too abruptly.  We have many bar and counter stools to choose from.  You may get inspired by those offered by Designmaster, Lorts, Woodbridge and Charleston Forge,.  These lines show the diversity of styles and materials from wood to iron to fabric.

We Downsize

Downsizing to a cottage allows for a comfortable, low maintenance environment.  Four Seasons Furniture offers great shabby chic upholstered pieces from dining chairs to sofas and everything in between.  Their fabrics are cotton and provide a fresh look.  Their slipcovers can be laundered or dry cleaned.  Great news if you have children or pets.

We Entertain

Use the Good Stuff

We bring it out for guests but it is seldom, if ever, enjoyed by those we love the most -- our best friends, spouses, children and, very importantly, ourselves.  Make your tuna casserole look like a gourmet dinner by serving it on your bone china.  Light the candles on the table and use your best silver.  It’s amazing how much more your can enjoy a simple dinner when you “use the good stuff”.

Yes Dining Room – No Dining Room

Dining rooms take our money but seldom perform at the level of their cost.  We can change that by giving them additional duties.

The dining room can also serve as your library, for instance.  Add bookshelves and use both books and interested accessories to add warmth and function.  Art and/or mirrors can enhance the remaining walls.  Use comfortable upholstered host and hostess chairs.  Get rid of the “don’t touch me” table and replace it with one that is both appealing and functional.  Check out Lorts, British Traditions, Charleston Forge, Design Master, Hammary and Sligh from our Casegoods category.
